Arbutus Ridge Located on Vancouver Island, Canada's West Coast
Arbutus Ridge – perhaps Canada’s best retirement community for active adults (50+), is conveniently located in the Cowichan Valley between Vancouver Island’s largest cities Victoria and Nanaimo. You’ll find all the major amenities within 15 – 60 minutes; including hospitals, airports, ferries, shopping, banks, restaurants, etc. The seaside community of Arbutus Ridge is only a 40 minute drive north of Victoria* and 50 minutes south of Nanaimo and between 15 + minutes from the closest town of Mill Bay and the “Totem City” of Duncan.
If you want to travel to a major international city such as Vancouver B.C. or Seattle, Washington for a quick weekend get away, you are only a 1.5 hour ferry ride or a 30 minute flight away. And if local charm is your fantasy, the many nearby Gulf & San Juan (U.S.) Islands are only a short ferry ride away. Our local pod of whales or the ever-present majestic bald eagles, white swans and the prehistoric looking blue herons might greet you. Each little island is different. You’ll be transported to the unique worlds of the arts, fine food, funky music, beachside B & B’s and beautiful scenery.
Perhaps you’d like to go skiing? Mount Washington can be reached “up island” in a 2-hour leisurely drive to the higher elevations - a stunning spot that can receive some of Canada’s largest winter snowfalls. Or maybe you’d like to visit Canada’s renowned 2010 Olympic Ski Village of Whistler? The ferry ride to Vancouver is only 1.5 hours and you’re almost there. Located centrally, Arbutus Ridge residents have a choice of three different ferry terminals – Departure Bay, Duke Point and Swartz Bay.
